Chapter 777: Shocked! The One You Truly Can’t Afford to Offend (1)
Sang Yanqing happened to come by to deliver a script.
She first greeted Yu Xiheng respectfully before heading upstairs.
Si Fuqing was busy writing an exam paper and didn’t look up. “Sister Sang, just put it in my bag.”
“Alright, but remember to look at it later,” Sang Yanqing said. “Next month is the audition, and I remember there’s another Seven Schools Joint Examination in March, right? After that, they’ll be selecting candidates for the international joint examination. Plus, you have a variety show to shoot. You’re really busy.”
Si Fuqing responded lazily, “Yeah, I’m just a dedicated worker.”
Sang Yanqing opened Si Fuqing’s bag to put the script inside but ended up with her hand covered in dust.
“What’s going on in your bag?” Sang Yanqing sniffed the dust curiously. “What is this? Have you been burning paper in your bag?”
Si Fuqing always carried an old canvas bag and hadn’t replaced it despite its wear.
She was truly frugal.
Upon hearing this, Si Fuqing looked up abruptly.
She took the bag and squinted at it. “My talisman.”
These protective talismans came in pairs.
She had made quite a few, giving some to Nian Tingchu, others, and Yu Xiheng.
The talismans weren’t large, and Si Fuqing had threaded them onto her keys.
Jade blocks calamities, jade shatters.
Talismans block calamities, talismans burn.
Si Fuqing calmly examined the talisman papers on her keychain.
The talisman with Nian Yi’an’s name was gone.
She looked at the black dust on her fingertips, her gaze growing colder by the second.
Even Sang Yanqing felt the piercing chill, making her shiver. “What’s wrong?”
Si Fuqing didn’t respond and first dialed Nian Yi’an’s phone number.
There was no answer.
She then dialed Ye Zhenmian’s number.
After three rings, it was picked up, and Ye Zhenmian’s voice came through, “Hello, Qingqing?”
Si Fuqing asked, “Auntie, is Yi’an there?”
“He hasn’t come back yet,” Ye Zhenmian replied, her voice sounding normal, with a laugh. “Today is their last day of tutoring. Yi’an said he might be home late.”
“Okay, I understand.” Si Fuqing responded, “Auntie, get some rest early. The New Year is approaching; don’t overwork yourself.”
After ending the call, she looked up. “Sister Sang, please book a flight to An City, the soonest available, two tickets.”
Sang Yanqing was taken aback but quickly checked for the next flight.
There was one in thirty minutes.
An City and Sijiu were both in the northern part of Great Xia, not far from each other.
It would only take an hour to get there.
Sang Yanqing swiftly booked two tickets and then asked, “What’s the rush? Weren’t you going back tomorrow?”
“Something came up.” Si Fuqing didn’t take anything with her, just putting on a coat and sending a message to Yuejian with one hand. “I’ll take my assistant back first.”
After speaking, she jumped straight down from the second floor.
Sang Yanqing stood there, speechless.
She wiped her face and began to think about how to explain to Yu Xiheng why Si Fuqing had suddenly left.

Meanwhile, a few men in black had brought Nian Yi’an to a secret room.
Outside the room were numerous sophisticated instruments, flashing with various symbols.
As they were about to place Nian Yi’an on the operating table, someone called out to them.
“Wait, don’t move yet,” a middle-aged man said. “He has something on him.”
He crouched down and pinched a talisman hanging around Nian Yi’an’s neck.
The talisman looked like one of those cheap ones sold online, nothing special.
“It’s rare to see a genuine protective talisman nowadays. No wonder we lost a few men today,” the middle-aged man said indifferently. “But it’s unfortunate for him. Running into us means even a talisman won’t help.”
He casually yanked off the talisman and tossed it into a nearby furnace.
The talisman was quickly consumed by the flames.
The middle-aged man stood with his hands behind his back. “Prepare everything. We’ll start the operation when he wakes up.”
The men in black nodded and secured Nian Yi’an to the operating table, fastening his limbs and head.
Nian Yi’an was still unconscious.
After some time, he slowly regained consciousness.
He struggled to open his eyes and was met with the blinding light of the surgical lamp.
Nearby, a soft voice spoke, “You’re awake?”
The voice was familiar to Nian Yi’an.
He squinted and finally made out the person before him. “It’s you.”
It was Ning Tingyi, the school beauty of Northern State No.1 Middle School.
Not long ago, she had hired some thugs to block his way, only to be beaten up by Si Fuqing.
Since then, all the thugs avoided Northern State No.1 Middle School, and even the moral education director wondered why the area had been so peaceful lately.
Nian Yi’an had learned some martial arts from Si Fuqing and Nian Tingchu, and even the black belts in the school’s Taekwondo club couldn’t defeat him.
