Chapter 423: 422 Too nervous

Gu Kai sat in Shen Yuting’s office, zoned out for a few minutes, took a deep breath to calm his emotions, pulled out his phone, and made a call.

Half an hour later, Gu Kai arrived at the MS Group Building.

Wen Ran had been sent away by Mo Xiuchen, and he was alone in the office.

“Where’s Ranran, she’s not here?”

As soon as Gu Kai walked into the office, he looked at Wen Ran’s seat and seeing she was nowhere, he cast a questionable glance at Mo Xiuchen who sat behind the desk.

“I had her leave for a while, let’s sit down and talk.”

Mo Xiuchen got up, walked over to the sofa, picked up a cigarette from the coffee table and offered it to Gu Kai. Gu Kai shook his head, sat down on the sofa and began to speak, “Everything is set. As soon as Mo Zixuan is available, we can proceed.”

“Alright, I will talk to him later.”

When Mo Xiuchen saw Gu Kai didn’t want to smoke, he too lost interest, he threw the cigarette back onto the coffee table, leaned back into the sofa and playfully rubbed his forehead.

“What’s the matter, you don’t seem well?”

Gu Kai squinted at Mo Xiuchen, who replied with a quiet smile. “I’m not unwell, recently Ranran has been rather forgetful.”

“You’re too worried, everyone forgets things sometimes.”

Gu Kai looked at Mo Xiuchen and added, “According to the results of the last medical examination, even if anything were to happen to Ranran, it would only occur after she turned twenty-five. My father should never have told you.”

Mo Xiuchen put down his hand and replied somewhat coldly, “Why shouldn’t he have told me? I’m her husband, I have the right to know. Besides, I am with her most of the time, I should be the first to notice anything.”

“But you’re too anxious, you’ll make Ranran nervous and suspicious.”

Gu Kai stared at Mo Xiuchen’s tense face and suddenly smiled: “Do you admit what I’m saying?”

Mo Xiuchen frowned, gave Gu Kai a hard glare, and unhappily said, “I’m not anxious, I’m just worried about Ranran.”

“You are indeed anxious. If my father hadn’t told you, you wouldn’t be in this state of mind. If she forgets something small, you immediately think it’s a big deal. She’s taking her medication, you don’t have to worry.”

“I hope so.”

Mo Xiuchen let out a resigned sigh. He had to admit that ever since Gu Yan informed him of Ranran’s condition, he’d been on tenterhooks.

If it was before, he wouldn’t have cared and would even make fun of her…

“Mo Xiuchen, you need to adjust your state of mind. Since Ah Jin told you the truth, you have not been relaxed at all. I understand you care about Ranran, but in this state, you can’t help her.”

“I know.”

Mo Xiuchen responded pallidly.

Of course, he understood, but comprehending and implementing are two different things.

“Initially, I wasn’t in favor of your deal with Mo Zixuan, but now, I hope you immediately quit this damn CEO job, take Ranran out and relax. I called Ah Mu yesterday, he’s doing really well. A trip would do you and Ranran some good.”

Gu Kai could see Mo Xiuchen’s discomfort. Seeing his friend like this was dreadfully tough.

Among them, Mo Xiuchen had always had the toughest life. Originally, it seemed like he and Ranran were in love and would be happy forever. However, fate had twisted things around.

“I’ll call Mo Zixuan right now.”

Mo Xiuchen wanted to settle all this nonsense more than Gu Kai. He wanted to leave G City with Xiaoxiao and go wherever they wanted.

He dialed a number and two minutes later, Mo Zixuan arrived.

Upon opening the door and seeing Gu Kai sitting on the sofa, Mo Zixuan’s eyes blinked in understanding and he walked over and sat down.

“Can my memory really be recovered?”

Looking at Gu Kai, he asked suspiciously.

Gu Kai nodded, “Your memory was erased by deep hypnosis, or rather, that part of your memory was temporarily sealed away in your mind, not permanently deleted. Under certain stimuli, it can be restored.”

Fearing Mo Zixuan wouldn’t understand, Gu Kai skipped some technical terms and explained in the simplest way possible.

Mo Zixuan contemplated a while before asking, “So, is it easy to recall?”

“If you rely on your own efforts, it may be difficult. I already contacted a reputable hypnotherapist to treat you. Mo Zixuan, before you recover your memory, I need to remind you of something.”

Mo Zixuan’s face paled slightly, “Go ahead.”

“You used to really love Ranran, but you were always pursuing her. She was with you because you moved…”

“You don’t need to say anymore, I know what you are going to say.”

Mo Zixuan sneered in a cold manner and interrupted Gu Kai’s speech.

“Then, you should arrange your time and schedule for the treatment.”

Gu Kai left it at that.

“The day after tomorrow in the afternoon. I’m tied up with work tomorrow and the day after. I can’t take time off.” Mo Zixuan glanced at the silent Mo Xiuchen on the side.

“Alright, then the afternoon, two days from now.”

Gu Kai glanced at the watch on his wrist, turned to Mo Xiuchen and asked, “Are you treating me to lunch? If not, I’m leaving.”

Mo Xiuchen’s lips twitched, his eyes following him as he stood up and prepared to leave. He drawled, “It’s almost noon. If it weren’t for wanting a free lunch, why would you come at this time?”

At that, Gu Kai chuckled delightedly, “You guys carry on with your conversation, I am going to find Ranran. I haven’t seen her in a couple of days and I miss her.”

Speaking of which, Gu Kai was a bit annoyed. Ever since the New Year’s visit, Mo Xiuchen took Wen Ran and disappeared. As per his habit, he turned off his phone and went off the grid.

Not just him, but nobody could reach them. He didn’t know where they had stayed for three days, but they only resurfaced yesterday evening.

“Hmm, I’ll come down in a while.”

Mo Xiuchen’s lips curved slightly, implying his consent for Gu Kai to find Wen Ran.

After Gu Kai had left, Mo Xiuchen turned to Mo Zixuan, “Have you found any news of your mother and Wu Tianyi?”

Mo Zixuan shook his head, a shadow crossing his face, “She’s even guarding against me now. She doesn’t tell me where they are.”

“I don’t want to drag this on any longer, and I’m sure you don’t want to wait. The new product launch is about to start, if you have no objections, let’s track their location.”

Mo Zixuan’s gaze flickered with a hint of hesitation but the idea that finding his mother and Wu Tianyi would make him CEO hardened his resolve. He tightly pressed his lips together and nodded, “Alright, I’ll call her again in the afternoon.”

“Fine.”

Mo Xiuchen paused for a moment, then added, “Once their location is known, your task is complete. After that, I will fulfil my promise.”
