1442 Marry Me (2)
“What do you mean by that?” Long Yuetian interrupted. She instantly understood what her father was suggesting.
“I don’t mean much. I just think the Second Master of the Zhai family is a decent man. He saved your life and we can’t really return this favor using money right?”
“But you can’t use your daughter’s happiness and marriage either!”
“But you’re the one who owes him a favor in the first place!” Long Yuetian’s father retorted.
“Father!”
“Okay okay, I didn’t say anything,” Long Yuetian’s father compromised.
Upon hearing this response, Long Yuetian muttered discontentedly: “When I was a kid, you said that if any brat dared to marry me, you’d break his legs. But now, you’re desperately trying to get me married off…”
“But aren’t you much older now…”
Long Yuetian angrily stared at her father when she heard his response.
“Okay okay, let’s not talk about these things anymore. Instead, you should rest up and take care of yourself.”
Long Yuetian’s father did not want to make his daughter angry.
“By the way, when I was a child, did I ever say to someone that I wanted to marry him when I grew up?” Long Yuetian asked.
“When you were a child?” Long Yuetian’s father repeated. After thinking for a moment, he said: “You were raised as a boy when you were a child. It seems indeed possible for you to say such a thing.”
“Father!”
“I’m trying to recall what you were like as a child!”
“Just remember the important things! You don’t need to talk about and remind me of useless details!”
“I’m thinking…” Long Yuetian’s father replied. After some more thought, he suddenly exclaimed: “Actually, back then, I think you pulled on my sleeve and told me you found yourself a husband!”
“Huh?” Long Yuetian replied with disbelief. Did she actually say such a thing?
“When you were five years old, I asked you what you wanted for your birthday present. I don’t know where you got the idea from but you told me you wanted a husband. You also said you wanted to marry the most handsome man in the world. Naturally, I did not agree with you. I also told you off. However, during the birthday party later in the day, you came over and told me you found yourself a husband. That made me so angry I almost went to have a fight with someone.”
As it was the first time Long Yuetian made such a comment, Long Yuetian’s father still had some impression of the occasion.
Upon hearing this, Long Yuetian asked: “Then do you remember who it was?”
“Nope,” Long Yuetian’s father replied. “If I knew which brat you wanted as a husband, I would have beaten him up. However, back then, you refused to say anything. And thus, that brat managed to narrowly escape a beating.”
“Then do you know who was invited to my birthday?”
“Why would I remember that? If you’re interested, you can look for the photos of your fifth birthday party though.”
“Where are the photos? Let me see,” Long Yuetian said impatiently.
“The photos definitely aren’t on me right now. They should be in the attic. Back then, you used the place as a toy room.”
Long Yuetian got out of bed after hearing her father’s words.
“What are you doing? Go and lie down. The doctor didn’t say you can be discharged from the hospital!”
“I want to go and get the photos.”
“It’s just a photo! I will send someone and get it for you! Don’t get out of bed!”
In order to stop his daughter from moving around, Long Yuetian’s father immediately asked his family servants to bring all the photo albums inside the attic to the hospital ward.
An hour later, several thick photo albums were piled up on Long Yuetian’s hospital bed.
Long Yuetian located the album taken on her fifth birthday and opened it…
