Chapter 388: Killing Boris, Ignoring The Lord of The City
“What are the few of you standing around there for? Are you not willing to contribute to the city?”
The captain stared sinisterly at Meng Lei and the others with a threatening look in his eyes. He had already made up his mind—if Meng Lei and the others didn’t take a hint again, then he didn’t mind taking their lives!
Those were just a few nameless nobodies. It was no big deal even if he killed them. It didn’t pose any psychological burden to him at all. Instead, it could even serve as a warning to others and encourage them to mine more diligently.
“Those few people are out of luck!”
“They honestly don’t know how to read the situation at all!”
“Didn’t they see that Boris was already threatening them? Yet they actually still dared to remain unmoved. Such fools!”
The other deities watched Meng Lei and the others with mockery and gloating in their eyes. They were from the Venus Colossal Dragon God clan, so they naturally could ignore Captain Boris’ threat, but what did those few people think they were? How dare they imitate them!
They were clearly thinking too highly of themselves!
“If those few haven’t become utter fools yet, then they should go into the mine right away. Otherwise, that wicked Boris will never let them off…”
However, what none of them expected was that Meng Lei had rejected Boris’ request without even a moment’s hesitation. Meng Lei said, “We’re just here to watch the show and not here to labor for you. Telling us to mine? Are you suffering from brain damage?”
Everyone stared at Meng Lei and the others as if they were staring at freaks the moment the words left Meng Lei’s mouth. What an arrogant fellow! He actually dared to speak to Boris like that?
Boris was the Venus Colossal Dragon City guard commander, as well as the strongest deity under the Venus Colossal Dragon City lord’s command. On top of that, he was also a scoundrel that killed without even batting an eyelid. He was the one in charge of getting all the wicked deeds that the lord of the city wanted to do done.
Killing people like flies, vicious and nefarious…
These were no longer enough to describe Boris.
Yet that guy in front of them had…
A nobody that had popped out of some godforsaken place had actually dared to speak to Boris like that! Wasn’t he afraid of suffering Boris’ wrath?
Venus, the son of the Chief God, had kept his attention on the valley the whole time and hadn’t bothered focusing on the ongoings on the other side. To him, only the crystal marrows in the mine were worthy of his attention. Everyone else… wasn’t even worth a mention.
But upon hearing Meng Lei’s reply, even Venus couldn’t resist turning around and taking a look. His brows furrowed lightly, feeling a little surprised.
That guy… What arrogance!
“W-we’re finished! We’re doomed now!”
Among the crowd, Emery Philmore nearly fell limp onto the ground. Fear and despair had completely taken over him. Meng Lei must be sick of living to talk back to Boris like that!
“That bastard! He’s going to get me killed!” Emery Philmore groaned inwardly.
True enough, fierce flames of fury started to rage in Boris’ eyes, and fearsome, torrential divine power erupted around him. He was so furious that he couldn’t help but laugh instead.
“Well-done! Well-done! How bold of you to actually speak to me like that! Go to hell!”
Boris roared furiously and threw a powerful punch. He didn’t hesitate to put his full power into the punch, evidently intending to kill Meng Lei and smash him into a bloody pulp with it.
“It’s all over!”
At the sight, Emery Philmore couldn’t help but shut his eyes—only to hear Puhaman’s mocking voice next to his ear.
“What are you closing your eyes for? Aren’t you a little too cowardly? Open your eyes wide and watch properly!”
“(⊙o⊙)”
At his words, Emery couldn’t help but open his eyes. Then, he saw something incredible:
Meng Lei neither ducked nor avoided Boris, who was coming at him with fierce momentum. Instead, he made a casual grabbing motion with his right hand.
Thud!
Meng Lei easily caught what everyone had thought was a destructive punch in his own hand. The destructive force around it died down, and its momentum completely disappeared. And then… There was nothing else.
“How can this be?!”
Emery Philmore was stunned.
The deities watching the fight were stunned.
Boris himself was also stunned.
A look of surprise also surfaced on even Venus’ countenance, seemingly not having expected a nobody to actually negate Boris’ attack so easily.
“There are too many people out there that want me dead. Who do you even think you are?”
Meng Lei shook his head lightly and casually tightened his grip, crushing Boris’ fist.
“Aahhh!”
Boris let out a shrill scream and looked at Meng Lei with fear and shock. His voice trembled as he asked, “W-who exactly are you?”
“Who am I? You’re not qualified enough to know that.”
Meng Lei then reached out his right arm and dealt a palm strike.
Boom!
A massive palm about 100,000-feet-long abruptly appeared in the sky and crashed down onto Boris. Its terrifying might and momentum were as if they were going to destroy everything in the world.
“Noooo!”
Fearful and horror-stricken, Boris cried out desperately, “My lord, s-save me!”
“Stop!”
Venus hastily spoke up and tried to stop Meng Lei. Boris was his lackey; he mustn’t die just like that.
Meng Lei didn’t pay him any heed at all, however. The massive palm’s downward momentum made no move to slow down and engulfed Boris amid his screams of despair.
Boom!
The massive palm descended from above, ultimately landing on the summit of Coiling Dragon Mountain Range. A deafening explosion rang out, and even the whole mountain range itself shook a little.
Dust swirled everywhere as the ground and mountains trembled.
“What’s the matter?”
“What happened?”
“An earthquake! It’s an earthquake!”
“Hurry and get out!”
Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh!
The sudden tremors frightened the deities that had entered the valley, and they scrambled out of the valley like frightened little rabbits.
“What happened just now?”
“Look over there!”
Following the shout, everyone quickly looked over to see a gigantic deep pit forming at the summit. The pit was palm-shaped, and one could nary see to the bottom of it.
“How strange! Where did that palm-shaped pit come from? I seem to recall it wasn’t there when I first arrived here…”
All the deities were terribly puzzled. Then, a chilling voice rang out. “Why didn’t you stop when I told you to just now?”
“That’s… The lord of the city’s voice?”
Everyone quickly looked over to see the lord of the city sporting an icy look on his face. His eyes were practically spitting fire, and his countenance was as cold as the Antarctic ice as he gazed coldly at a young man.
“What’s the matter with the lord of the city?”
“Why is he suddenly flaring up at a deity?”
“Who’s that?”
Questions filled the deities’ minds.
Venus was raging mad. Although he was certainly mad that someone had killed Boris, that wasn’t enough to anger him this badly yet. The main reason for his anger was instead Meng Lei defying his order.
One must know that as the son of the Chief God, aside from a small handful of people, no one, even those among the clan’s inner circle, had ever dared to refuse Venus anything.
Not even the clan elders!
Moreover, he enjoyed an even loftier position and was someone with absolute authority in Venus Colossal Dragon City. His orders were the golden rule, his will the highest decree, and his word the law itself!
Who would dare to defy his orders?
Nobody!
Those that did… would die!
Yet that fellow that had popped out of god knows where had actually defied—or perhaps completely ignored—his order just now!
This was unforgivable!
And inexcusable!
Fear and panic took over Emery Philmore as he gazed at Venus’ icy eyes. Even Puhaman and the others also felt immense pressure. That guy wasn’t particularly strong, but he was a Chief God’s son!
A Chief God!
Those two words alone were already capable of applying an infinite amount of pressure on anyone, crushing down on them and rendering them unable to breathe.
“Am I supposed to stop just because you told me to? Who do you think you are?”
