Abigail fell carefully and didn’t make any contact with the section of her abdomen that had been operated on. She looked up to see Brandon standing still, so she blinked at him.
Brandon took a deep breath, “Miss Green, do you need help getting up?”
“Yes.”
“Pullan.” Abigail’s response was straightforward and calm. Then she heard Brandon’s clear, mellow voice call out to Pullan.
Pullan, who had been standing behind her, quickly stepped forward. But in the next moment, Abigail had already regained her footing and brushed the dust off her overcoat, “Thank you.”
Pullan’s hand hung in midair as he glanced at his young master. Was this plump woman infatuated with his young master? That couldn’t be true, even though his young master was indeed charming.
Brandon watched Abigail’s actions, which were utterly unembarrassed. Her skin was indeed thick, as the saying goes.
“Mr. Piers, I just meant to repay the money…”
“Help! Quick, save my brother, he’s fainted! Doctor!”
Abigail’s words were cut off as someone not far away was shouting for help. She instinctively looked over and saw someone trying to lift a patient. She quickly turned around and rushed over, “Don’t move him!”
With that, Abigail kneeled down and checked the patient’s pulse. Almost instantly, she determined that the man had suffered cardiac arrest and shouted to someone nearby to fetch a doctor.
The next moment, she undid the man’s clothes and started performing chest compressions. After thirty compressions, she retrieved a gauze from her bag, placed it over the patient’s mouth, and started doing mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. The man regained consciousness four minutes later, just as the doctor arrived.
“Thank you, thank you.” The patient’s family kept expressing their gratitude. Even the emergency doctor couldn’t help but praise Abigail. Abigail flashed them a bright smile, but she remained on the ground for a long time.
Suddenly, she realized she had overexerted herself and had strained her wound. She could feel a thin layer of sweat forming on her forehead due to the pain.
It took her a while to slowly move her heavy body. Then, an elegantly slim hand grabbed her arm. With the person’s help, she finally managed to stand up.
“Thank… Mr. Piers?” She thought he had already left.
“Are you injured?” Brandon inquired, noticing Abigail holding her abdomen.
“It’s nothing serious,” Abigail waved it off.
However, Brandon’s gaze remained on her face, “Excellent emergency aid.”
No doubt about it. Her actions were precise and well-practiced, displaying the expertise of a professional.
“As I told you earlier, I can cure you.” Abigail remembered her previous words, which seemed to be met with distrust by the man.
Brandon chuckled lightly, “Even Jeffrey Foster doesn’t dare to say that he can cure me.”
Jeffrey Foster, the dean of Sincere Hospital, had become famous both domestically and internationally for a heart surgery. He gained fame earlier than Abigail and had a high reputation in the medical field.
However, his research in the field of traditional Flowery medicine was not extensive, and his suturing speed could never match Abigail’s.
Hearing the name of the senior she looked up to, Abigail’s gaze dimmed. She was invited by Jeffrey to visit Sincere Hospital and was naturally aware of his medical skills.
“I…” But on what grounds could she say that now? She did not even have a medical license, let alone perform a surgery.
Her bright eyes clouded over.
Looking at the gradually fading glow in her eyes, Brandon found an inexplicable sourness in his heart. It was as though he had once watched the same pair of eyes lose their sparkle right before him, but he could not remember when or where that had occured.
“Give her your Facebook contact.” Brandon said this and turned to walk towards the hospital. At the entrance met with the dean.
Pullan took out a Facebook QR code, “Miss Green.”
“Oh.” Abigail was brought back to reality and quickly scanned the code. When she looked up, all she saw was Brandon’s retreating figure. The man standing next to him was Jeffrey Foster, the man she used to admire in secret.
