1006 A Date
It was summertime and the sea breeze felt cool and refreshing. The moon was also in the sky, which was filled with stars. There were also lights nearby. As they walked on the beach, it felt incredibly romantic.
Zi Yi and Lu Jingye rarely came out on their own.
They held hands as they walked on the beach.
Zi Yi was wearing a spaghetti strap dress that reached slightly past her knees to reveal her fair slender calves.
After walking for some time, she decided to take off her shoes altogether. Lu Jingye carried them and she kicked the sand as she walked and had a lot of fun.
She played with the sand for some time, but it was not enough for her. She tugged Lu Jingye’s hand and said, “Ah Jing, can we play by the water? I’m sure it’ll be fun to play in the water.”
Lu Jingye looked at the sea nearby. He nodded and wanted to let go of her hand.
“Why don’t you come with me?” Zi Yi held his hand and refused to let go.
Lu Jingye had no choice. He could only place her shoes by the side and take off his shoes and socks too. The two of them walked to the edge of the water together.
The moment they stepped into the water, the sensation felt so good that Zi Yi’s eyes lit up.
“If I knew how fun it was, we should’ve come sooner.”
Lu Jingye looked at her indulgently. “If you like it, we can come more often.”
“Sounds good.”
They held hands and walked inside the water. As they walked, small splashes of water emerged at their feet.
They were clearly not alone on the beach. After walking for some time, they saw two people on a slightly flatter reef.
They were locked in an embrace and kissing each other.
Most people would leave if they encountered this, but it was Zi Yi and she was very different. She opened her eyes wide looking at the couple as they embraced each other. She said to Lu Jingye, “Ah Jing, why do I have a feeling they look very familiar?”
Lu Jingye felt it was rude to intrude and get nosy, so he did not look at the couple carefully. Instead, he covered Zi Yi’s eyes, held her, and turned her around to walk back.
“Why are we going?”
“We shouldn’t interrupt them.”
When Zi Yi heard what he said, she pondered and quickly walked up in front of Lu Jingye. She hugged him by the neck and said, “In that case, let’s kiss as well. It’s so romantic here, so we shouldn’t waste the opportunity.”
Lu Jingye felt amused. He held her by the waist and said, “If you want to kiss, we can do it when we get home.”
“No, I want to do it here.”
As Zi Yi spoke, she stood on tiptoes to kiss him.
Lu Jingye could not say no to Zi Yi’s zeal and wanted to kiss her back hard. Unexpectedly, the sound of something falling into the water could be heard.
The two of them automatically turned and looked.
Zi Yi could not help laughing. She said, “I can’t believe it. They got so carried away kissing that they fell into the water.”
When Lu Jingye saw them get out of the water, he said to Zi Yi, “It’s Cousin Yurui and Secretary Shao.”
“Huh?”
Zi Yi’s eyes widened in astonishment.
She was at a loss. “When did they start dating?”
The people across from them clearly noticed their presence as well.
Also, they too had recognized them.
Secretary Shao wanted to go over, but Dou Yurui did not want to do it, so there was a slight disagreement.
Zi Yi held Lu Jingye’s hand and went toward them.
“Cousin Yurui, Secretary Shao, it’s really you!”
Zi Yi looked at the drenched couple and said teasingly, “Did you just go swimming?”
Dou Yurui felt awkward. She pretended to be composed as she replied, “Uh huh. I wasn’t expecting you to be here.”
Zi Yi looked at Secretary Shao wondering if he felt awkward.
Unexpectedly, Secretary Shao was even calmer than Dou Yurui. He simply nodded and replied, “It’s quite the coincidence to see you here.”
He continued, “We’re wet, so we’re making a move first. Enjoy yourselves.”
He took Dou Yurui and walked off.
“Cousin Yurui.” Zi Yi was extremely curious. She wanted to say she could help them dry their clothes.
Dou Yurui waved at her and said, “See you.”
Zi Yi replied, “…Bye-bye.”
Before long, they were out of sight.
Zi Yi finally veered her eyes away and looked at Lu Jingye. A look of disbelief emerged on her face. “I didn’t realize Secretary Shao was her type!”
Lu Jingye also felt a little surprised.
Then again, they looked good together, so she said, “Even though Secretary Shao is a workaholic, he has a high EQ. It makes sense for her to fall for him. Moreover, he comes from a scholarly background, so he makes a good match for Cousin Yurui.”
Zi Yi smiled brightly. “Cousin Yurui said she wanted a humorous man who isn’t in the same trade as her. I don’t know if Secretary Shao is humorous, but he genuinely isn’t in the same trade as her.”
Zi Yi recalled Dou Yurui mentioning she did not want a man from a scholarly family.
Zi Yi felt Dou Yurui had probably forgotten about it.
“From the looks of it, the family will have one more thing to celebrate this year.”
Zi Yi could not help feeling happy just thinking about this.
They walked a little while more at the beach before leaving.
By the time they got home, Mrs. Lu had already brought the twins to her room to sleep for the night.
Lu Jingye did not insist on taking back the kids. Instead, he went back to the room with Zi Yi right away.
After the door closed, Lu Jingye embraced Zi Yi.
Zi Yi laughed and said, “Aren’t you going to get the babies?”
Lu Jingye buried his head in her neck and said deeply, “I was worried we might make too much noise and wake up the kids.”
Zi Yi could sense his warm breath on her neck and automatically turned her head.
Lu Jingye turned around and their lips touched.
A blazing fire was ignited instantly inside.
…
The next day, Zi Yi got woken up by some movement on the bed.
However, she did not want to wake up at all.
She had had a late night and her body was still aching, so she really wished she could sleep in all day.
She wanted to reach her hand out and brush someone aside.
Just as she was about to do it, Lu Jingye reminded her. “Tangtang and Guoguo are lying beside you. Don’t move.”
Zi Yi promptly woke up in surprise.
She hastily stopped moving her hand, opened her eyes, and turned her head sideways to look.
She promptly made eye contact with Tangtang’s big round eyes.
Zi Yi smiled and said happily, “Good morning Tangtang my dear.”
Gurgling could be heard on the other side.
Zi Yi turned to the other side and saw Guoguo’s dark round eyes.
She reached her hand out and gently stroked Guoguo’s little face. She smiled and said, “Are you already fighting for attention, my dear? What’s going to happen when you grow up?”
Guoguo rubbed her face against Zi Yi’s hand making Zi Yi’s heart turn to mush.
“Aren’t you forcing us to dote on you more you little rascal?”
She placed her finger in Guoguo’s hand and she promptly held it tightly.
Zi Yi carried a baby on each side and held them both.
Lu Jingye smiled as he watched them. He asked, “Didn’t you say you’re visiting your grandfather today? It’s already nine o’clock in the morning. Are you going to get up?”
