Chapter 317: Strange Happening
“The entrance fee is ten emperor crystal nuclei, and no force is allowed after entering the town.”
The two guards manning the gate were muscular and dark-skinned. They glanced at Su Bai and the pets beside him with indifferent expressions.
With his blond hair and white skin, he looked quite nondescript. He nodded and quickly took out ten crystal nuclei.
This entrance fee was naturally extremely expensive, but it was mainly aimed at outsiders.
Here, paper currency had lost its purchasing power, and people used crystal nuclei and spirit crystals for transactions.
“Okay, you can go inside, but remember to follow the rules!” One of the two guards checked the crystal nuclei and then let him in.
Once he was inside the town, Su Bai let his pets roam around and observe the human culture.
This small town was generally remote. The town was full of houses built decades ago, and only the mayor’s living quarters in the central area were built to be magnificent.
Most people here were also working for the mayor in order to get asylum.
In general, this place was equivalent to a small kingdom.
“Roar~” Ah Bai, this is really a free world. The strong have supreme rights. Wouldn’t it be great if we could stay here? Little Tyrant gnawed on an ore and muttered.
Hearing this, he could not help but pat its head. Shaking it, he replied, “If the brave are mad, they’ll draw knives to the strong; if the timid are angry, they’ll draw knives to the weak. How is it a supreme right to enslave the weak?
“The real strong ones are those who challenge the strong and climb to higher peaks. I won’t stay here; I don’t think it’s cool.”
His words caused the dino to put down what it was gnawing and raise its head. “Roar?” How come such compelling words don’t sound like your original words?
Purple Jade glanced sideways at the dino. “Howl.” It’s from a man called Lu Xun. You should eat less and read more books.
Su Bai: “… It’s one of my standard ways of conduct. Have you ever seen me bully the weak?”
“Roar.” That’s true, probably; I’ll emulate you then. Little Tyrant nodded.
“Alright. Let’s head there,” he glanced at a sign called the Scarlet Hunter Guild and said.
These Pet Tamers had come to settle down in this hunting guild.
After entering, he could not help but marvel at its magnificence; this hunting guild was so different from the gray and shabby buildings outside.
“Hello, I’m Heidi Flynn at your service. What do you want to consult about? The Scarlet Hunter Guild can provide all sorts of services.”
Just as he walked in, a beautiful blonde in a maid costume walked up to him and asked that with a smile on her face.
Su Bai glanced at the other people inside. Some of the Pet Tamers were throwing away some money to get a handful of the maids before bringing them into private rooms with a face full of spring. This quickly made him understand what all the services were.
This was really a free world for those with money and strength.
“I want to buy information about the Vatican maelstrom,” he looked at Heidi Flynn and said. Although her figure was voluptuous, and she was full of exotic seduction, he did not have much interest in the woman.
“Of course. Please go to the private room and let us talk in detail. There’s a computer setup inside, and you can get all the information you want from it.” The woman gave him a gentle smile.
Su Bai nodded and followed the woman into the private room.
There was a large exquisite sofa, as well as bookshelves, computer tables, coffee tables, and more, inside. The overall style was quite grand.
When they entered the private room, Heidi Flynn walked to a computer desk and said, “Sir, all related information about the Vatican requires one sovereign-level crystal nucleus, and the news about people entering the Vatican this time requires three emperor crystal nuclei.
“If you need to team up with people, our guild can provide you with people for additional security, but the premise is that you must have a token to enter the place, and the cost is fifty sovereign-level crystal nuclei.”
She turned on the computer, entered her work serial number, and opened a list with relevant prices on it.
Ah Bai, I should be able to hack into it and steal the information.
The mechanical sound of Planet Eye circulated in his mind.
“No need.” He rejected this idea telepathically.
Although the price of the information was very expensive, it was nothing to him, so there was no need to make such an unnecessary move.
He took out a sovereign crystal nucleus and handed it to Heidi Flynn. “I want all the data about the Vatican.”
“Please swear before this Void Oath not to tell other beings about the secrets,” the woman took out a Void Oath and said.
Su Bai made a promise before the Void Oath that he would ten thousand times the cost to the guild if he revealed the secrets.
Heidi Flynn put the crystal nucleus into a special jar connected to the computer and then unlocked it. She then found the information he wanted.
The external information was similar to what Su Bai already knew, but there was a very key message to it, and that was, following the Vatican’s disappearance with a large landmass, a black fog and weird things had occurred.
Some people said that they had experienced time stagnation and spent hundreds of years motionless in an area.
Some people said that, after experiencing the acceleration of time, they became fifty or sixty years old in the span of a few minutes.
Others claimed to have experienced time reduction and rejuvenation, their ages going back to around thirty.
After the entire Vatican completely disappeared, someone investigated it. The age of the trees in the nearby area did change, having truly experienced a weird time-changing event.
This matter had been concealed. All the parties involved were ordered to make a promise before Void Oaths. Those who were unwilling to do so had been shot in the back or eventually committed suicide for some reason.
At that time, the Rabbit Kingdom only knew that dark-attribute fog had appeared at where the Vatican used to stand but did not know that a rare time-related event had occurred.
The people keeping the secret had not benefited from it, too, even after so many years; in fact, most of those who had entered the Vatican back then died bizarrely.
Despite that, some things were still detected from inside the Vatican maelstrom, which could be considered peculiar and mysterious. Darkness and time elements coexisted within, and monsters with these two attributes were labeled as too dangerous.
It was speculated that a precious inheritance, related to the power of time, was buried in the center of the Hidden Realm, but it was very difficult to get close to that place. A fog of time shrouded the area, and not one of those who had ventured in managed to come out.
Recently, though, the fog of time had disappeared and many tokens had flown out.
Some people suspected that the time inheritance had been opened.
Reading this on the computer, Su Bai’s face eased. He thought that he had not come in vain.
The Vatican was actually related to the time attribute, which was more difficult to acquire than the space attribute.
If he could obtain a pet with the time attribute, it would be a great help in battle.
However, according to the information, no one had successfully brought out a pet with the time attribute so far. As long as they left the Hidden Realm, those monsters would instantly die.
It was said that if he wanted to obtain related pets, he must enter the most central area of the Hidden Realm.
“Thank you. I’m done reading,” Su Bai said after seeing the information.
He felt that this trip to the Vatican was not easy, and the information he had obtained was relatively vague.
There must be more to this that only a few people knew.
“Do you need more information?” asked Heidi Flynn with her hands on the table, revealing a huge weapon.
“I want a copy of the date of those who have entered the place.”
Su Bai threw out three more emperor crystal nuclei.
“Thank you for your patronage. This information is only part of our guild’s compilation and isn’t complete. Our apologies.”
It did not take long for him to obtain the relevant information.
When he saw the list, he could not help but freeze for a moment, for he spotted many familiar names on it.
